At the art learning center, preschoolers made beautiful snowflakes! Each child made two snowflakes: one to take home, and one for the Morris Post Office in effort to collaborate with the community. When you visit the Morris Post Office, you will see our beautiful, glittery snowflake decorations!

We worked on learning letter C! All you need to make C is one big curve.
Thank you to all the pre-K families for attending, helping out, and bringing refreshments for our Pre-K Winter Celebration! It was a wonderful gathering, and the preschool students have so much to be proud of. Great job, pre-K friends!!
At the math learning center, we working on numbers, counting, and counting with one-to-one correspondence! We learned a new Handwriting Without Tears counting song called "Counting, Counting," a new counting song using the smart board called "Let's Count up to Ten," and practiced counting our fingers too. Then, we counted out 10 marshmallows, and made a hot chocolate craft for the hallway bulletin board! Math and counting is so much fun!
At the writing learning center the last two days, we have been drawing and writing about things that we enjoyed doing during winter break. Students are working on adding lots of detail to their drawings, drawing people that look like Mat Man, drawing or writing to convey an idea, event, or story, including letters and letter-like forms, and using early developmental spelling (e.g. use on letter for initial or final sound to represent whole word).
During art enrichment with Mrs. Sweet, we made clay ornaments for our families! First we made the ornaments and stamped shapes like a heart, circle, crescent, tree, and star. Once the clay ornaments were baked in the kiln, we painted them and added some glitter. The ornaments not only strengthened our fine motor skills, but were a beautiful, special gift for our families!
We practiced counting with one-to-one correspondence, and glued ten button ornaments on a Christmas tree. We worked on social skills like turn taking while playing the game Candy Land with friends! At the writing learning center, we wrote letters to Santa. We are working on adding lots of detail to our drawings and adding letters and words to our writing. At the math learning center, we worked on color identification and matching. We matched pom poms to holiday lights. We worked with friends in the holiday-themed sensory learning center, finding various Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, and Christmas symbols. We participated in the JMS holiday sing along with Mrs. Bills! |
