We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!! At the literacy center, students made a coconut tree with all the letters of their name climbing up the tree. Children also decorated the first letter of their name. These are displayed on the big bulletin board outside of our classroom. It's a fun way for children to start learning how to spell their name!
We also learned a greeting, which we include many days at morning circle time: "Chicka chicka boom boom, look who's in our room! (Student says name, class repeats name)" It helps us learn the names of our friends. Click on the button below to watch the story online! Our new pre-K classroom at Warren School is a great place to learn and play!!! Below are some photos of our:
- Large rug where we do whole-group learning - Cubby area where we keep our backpacks, jackets and snacks - Math learning center - Dramatic play "house" center - Reading center - Block center - Light Table and literacy center - Writing center - Art easel - Tables, where we eat snack, work with our "morning bucket" materials, and various other hands-on learning activities Our first few days of school were so much fun! We are learning each other's names, making friends and experiencing all the new things that we do at school in pre-K!
I look forward to meeting all of my pre-K friends and having you visit our classroom this evening at Warren School 4:00-6:00!!!
Preschoolers will be singing some farm-themed songs for you at our end of the year celebration. Below is a list of songs that we will be singing if your child would like to practice them at home. Some of the songs are on a CD, so they do not have links. For all of the songs with links, the music will be played through the smart board, however the video will be minimized. All of the songs will be sung as a whole group in the JMS library.
I look forward to seeing you on June 7th at 10:00! As always, please contact me if you have any questions. - Mrs. Hodgkinson Old MacDonald Had a Farm Farmer in the Dell B-I-N-G-O in Spanish I Know a Chicken 1 Potato, 2 Potato One Seed ABCs Happy Mother's Day from Pre-K!!!!!
