Throughout the first few weeks of school, we created rules and expectations as a whole class. We discussed important rules that we need to have in order to learn, have fun, and have a emotionally and physically safe environment in preschool. Every child promised to follow "Our Preschool Promises," and has an outline of their hand on our poster. We also learned important rules to follow when we have circle time on our big rug.

We had a fun-filled first week of preschool! We made new friends, learned new names, became accustomed to our new classroom, daily schedule, rules, and routine. Essentially, we are beginning to learn how to become learners, and love school. As a whole class, we started creating some class rules that we think are important to learn, be safe, and have fun. We will call them "Our Preschool Promises." Learning centers that we worked and played in this week include: reading, blocks, and the house center. During circle time, we sang name songs, sang and danced during music and movement, and listened to stories. We read: The Kissing Hand (Penn), The Night Before Preschool (Wing), Preschool Day, Hooray! (Strauss), and If You Take a Mouse to School (Numeroff). Students learned to identify their cubby area, where they keep they backpack and belongings during preschool.
We are excited to have Mrs. Leite as a paraprofessional in preschool this school year. |
