Thank you so much, Mrs. Ulrich!!!
Mrs. Ulrich visited our class and taught us about working at a veterinary hospital. She takes care of animals like cats and dogs when they have regular appointments or if something needs to be helped or fixed on an animal. Mrs. Ulrich brought in a service dog named Grace, which was very exciting! Preschoolers were able to listen to Grace's heartbeat using a stethoscope!! Thank you so much, Mrs. Ulrich!!!

We had a wonderful Pre-K Thanksgiving Celebration (Friendsgiving)! Thank you to all my pre-K friends and their families for gathering and bringing refreshments to our class celebration! Little learners made and wore pilgrim and Native American hats during the feast. Parents helped students make name turkey crafts to take home.
Among many things, I am so thankful for my little pre-K friends and their families! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Happy Thanksgiving! Next week, we will begin working on the letter "K" and continue after Thanksgiving break.
When we make "K": 1. Mr. Smiley reminds us to start at the top! 2. Big line down 3. Jump back to the other corner 4. Little line slides down to the middle 5. Little line slides down to the bottom One of our learning themes in November is occupations and community helpers.
Mr. Roe visited our class and taught us all about being an arborist. An arborist is someone who cultivates, manages, and studies trees, shrubs, vines and other plants. He taught us all about what he does when he goes to work every day. He showed us equipment and protective gear that he needs to wear like his hard hat and climbing gear. He brought all the students saplings, and we had so much fun planting them! We even had a chance to go outside and see Mr. Roe's bucket truck! Thank you, Mr. Roe!!! This week, we continued to work on letter "C". "C" is for CORN! We learned that corn and Indian corn are symbols of Thanksgiving. People often incorporate corn into their Thanksgiving feast. We made lego-stamped Indian corn, and we baked corn muffins for our Pre-K Class Thanksgiving Celebration!
In pre-K, we have fun motor breaks to get our wiggles out! Click on the buttons below to sing some of our Thanksgiving songs and view other Thanksgiving kids videos at home! Turkey Dance
You turkey to the left You turkey to the right You heel and you toe And you scratch with all your might You flap your turkey wings And you give your head a bobble You turn yourself around and say "Gobble, gobble, gobble!" Veterans, thank you for your service! In pre-K, we learned about Veterans Day, who is a veteran, symbols and Veterans Day traditions.
Students painted beautiful poppy flowers and worked on scissor skills to make red, white and blue stars to display for the JMS Veterans Day Luncheon! During music with Mrs. Bills, we learned and sang "You're a Grand Old Flag" song! On the digital library website, we read What is Veterans Day? We met Magic "C" Bunny! "C" is magical because it is used to make other things such as a circle, and other letters like "O", "G" and "Q"!
"C" is a big curve. To write letter "C": 1. Mr. Smiley reminds us to start at the top 2. Big curve 3. Stop at the bottom Using our fun goblin fingers, we found lots of "C"s in our classroom environment, and we have some friends whose names begin with "C". We practiced writing "C" and thinking of things that begin with "C"! We are CRAZY for "C"!!!
"C" is for construction! At the block center this week, we had a construction zone and played with lots of tools, diggers and trucks. At the sensory table, we played with loaders, digging and identifying letter rocks. "C" is for cookies and cakes! At the play dough center, we pretended to bake cookies and cakes in various shapes. We worked on identifying letters and numbers, and stamped them on our baked goods. "C" is for cars!! At the ABC literacy center, we drove cars on highway letters. We worked on identifying the letter, the sound it makes, and made lots of "vroom, vroom" car sounds. We made sure to start our letters at the TOP! We noticed that all the letters are made of lines and curves. "C" is for caterpillar! We read one of our favorite books, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, and worked on story retelling using pictures on our felt story board. "C" is for cat! We made a cat letter craft this week. We are having so much fun learning and playing with our friends in pre-K!!!! |
