One of the things that we do during morning meeting is calendar! A calendar helps us keep track of time and important dates. We count, learn what month and day of the week it is, and talk about important upcoming dates. We learn that we come to school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Sing our calendar songs below by clicking on the buttons!

Mrs. Fleming visited pre-K today and read us the book, "The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin"! We talked about how Spookley is different since he is a square pumpkin, and how it wouldn't be kind to laugh or make fun of him just because he is different. We are all unique and special!!! One of our Pre-K Promises is to be nice and kind! In our class, we are kind, we accept and include everyone! We are all friends!
We are mathematicians!!! Some of the tools that we can use in pre-K to help us learn how to count objects one at a time are five frames and a ten frames. We are also working on remembering how many we counted without having to re-count them. We always put objects in the five and ten frames from left to right, top to bottom. This week, we counted pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns. Math is so much fun!
"T" is for technology!!!! We love using the smart board and iPads to learn during learning centers!
"T" is for tree! We made a fun letter "T" craft at the ABC center. During art, we worked on fine motor skills and used scissors to make beautiful trees! One of our themes this month is family, so we made family trees this week! We used scissors to snip pieces of paper and glue on our tree like leaves, and then added special photos of our family. At the block center, we made lots of block towers and played with trains! All week, we worked on finding things that begin with "T", how to write letter "T" and the sound that it makes! How to write "T": 1. Start at the top (find Mr. Smiley!) 2. Big line down 3. Jump back up to the top 4. Little line Pre-K is a huge transition year for most children. Communication is one of the key's to the success of your child this year. Thank you to all parents who attended parent-teacher conferences!
