Wishing you Happy Holidays and best wishes for 2019!! I am so incredibly thankful for all of my pre-K students, and working with such amazing families! Enjoy winter break!

This week, we started working on letter "V". Mrs. Hodgkinson brought in her violin and played it for the class. It sounded so lovely to hear preschoolers sing the ABC's as Mrs. H played the song on her violin! Mrs. H showed the class how to tune a violin, the strings A, E, D, G and the different parts of a violin. It was neat to learn that the hair on the violin bow is from a horse!
We will continue working on letter "V" the week that we return from winter break! It was very exciting for little learners to participate in the Three-School Celebration of Giving at JMS! Students wore pajamas and red Wamogo Warrior t-shirts, and donated money (for CCMC) and canned goods (for the Morris Food Bank)! We welcomed Warren preschoolers, and made lots of new friends! One of the special learning centers that students participated in was "Pass the Ice Cream," where students practiced using good manners and saying "please" and "thank you" as they shared scoops of ice cream (pl;astic balls)! Students also worked together and played in the following learning centers: blocks, house, reading and sensory table. We had snack time together with our new friends, and we shared some of our favorite songs with each other during whole group time! Mrs. Brady's pre-K friends, thank you for visiting and playing with us!!! Preschoolers did a fantastic job singing festive songs for their families at our Pre-K Winter Celebration!!! Students and families participated in some fun activities: "snowball bounce" with balloons and paper plate paddles, Christmas lights fingerprint craft and counting ornaments on a Christmas tree using play dough. Children participated in cookie decorating and everyone enjoyed snacks. Families, thank you VERY much for all of the snacks and treats that you brought in to share for our celebration!!!
Happy Holidays! I hope you have a wonderful winter break, and I look forward to seeing you in 2019! We have been having fun with Christmas-themed books, learning centers and crafts the past couple weeks! Some of the learning activities that children have been participating include: making holiday ornaments for their families, practicing scissor skills to make a Christmas tree, counting ornaments on a Christmas tree with 1-1 correspondence and matching colors with holiday lights. We have been singing and dancing to some fun Christmas-themed songs to get our wiggles out!

(Bend slowly down to floor) Mrs. Lauretano visited our class, and taught us all about being an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)! EMT's help people when they need emergency medical care if they are injured or critically ill, and transport patients to a medical facility. Mrs. Lauretano showed us what she would do if someone had a bad cut, or broke their arm. Using a stethoscope, students had an opportunity to listen to their own heartbeat! Mrs. Lauretano even gave us a stethoscope to pretend with in the dramatic play center. Students learned about equipment and tools that EMT's have with them, and what they do when they arrive at the accident scene. During learning centers, children worked on fine motor skills by using bandaids to make a "Star of Life" symbol on an ambulance picture.
Thank you so much, Mrs. Lauretano! We had so much fun, and learned a lot! Students participated in multi sensory learning activities to learn letter "G"! We built "G" with wooden pieces, wrote it in the air and on paper, and made ghost, gumballs and gingerbread crafts! Preschoolers learned that letter "G" can make a hard and soft "g" sound.
"G" is for guitar. Mr. Chapman and Mrs. Palheiredo visited pre-K, played guitar and sang with us. It was so special! "G" Is for Ms. Glover (pre-K paraprofessional) and Mr. Gauvain (P.E. teacher)! To write "G": 1. Start at the top! 2. Big curve 3. Little line up 4. Little line across |
