During Spanish with Senora Ruiz, students are learning how to count in Spanish! Children practiced rote counting out loud, and counting with one-to-one correspondence. Students had fun getting their wiggles out, and singing along with the Spanish Number Song!

Our morning and afternoon preK classes made a preK promise! We discussed what we want our classroom to be like, and made a list of the most important rules. Each child had their hand traced on the PreK Promises as they promised to follow the rules. Whenever we are doing everything we promised, we will feel good about ourselves!
For our 'Ready for School' theme, one of the stories we read and sang during music and movement was "The Wheels on the Bus". We read various versions of the song, and even learned a 'Wheels on the Bus' letter/letter sound song. At the art center, children identified shapes and colors as they made a school bus craft. Our school bus crafts are hanging in the hallway near our classroom!
Prekindergarten children are learning about various learning centers, and other important things in our classroom. Students were engaged in a classroom scavenger hunt, where they had to find various things in the classroom such as: block center, trashcan, backpack hook/cubby area, restroom, reading center, etc. Pete the Cat gave us animal and paw print stickers to earn after finding each item on the list. It was so much fun!
The first day of school is such an important day for prekindergarten children and their families! We had a very special first day, met lots of new friends, explored our classroom, played, and participated in learning activities.
Our raccoon stuffed animal, Chester, helped us read "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. In the story, Chester is a little nervous about going to school for the first time. Then, Mother Raccoon showed Chester the 'kissing hand'; she took Chester's hand and placed a kiss in the center of his palm. This helped to ease Chester's fears and reminded him that his mother's love would go everywhere with him. At the art center, students traced and colored their hand, with a special poem for their families. |
