For letter "G", we read, "Gingerbread Man, Loose in the School"! Then, we saw that the gingerbread man left us a letter, so we went looking for him in the school! We looked in the gym, nurse's office, art room and the Main Office! We went back to the classroom, and saw that he had left us cookies and frosting to decorate and eat! It was SO much fun!!!

This week, students learned a little bit about Hanukkah! Some symbols of Hanukkah include: dreidel, menorah and gelt (chocolate coins). Preschoolers learned that there are eight nights of Hanukkah, and children often receive a gift on each of the eight nights. Students made a menorah, and "lit" the candles on the menorah by dipping their pointer finger in yellow paint, and practiced counting with 1-1 correspondence during the activity.
Mrs. Seeley visited today and taught us about her job as an animal control officer! Some of the things that an animal control officer does is investigate mistreated animals and control animals that are lost, abandoned or dangerous. They also help the animals find new safe and happy homes! Mrs. Seeley showed us some photos from her cases with various types of animals including horses, dogs, cats, ducks and chickens. She taught us about dog safety too. Thank you so much, Mrs. Seeley!!
December holidays is the thematic learning unit for the month! We will be learning about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas!
Stay tuned for an invitation for our Pre-K Winter Celebration! Next week, we will be working on letter "G"!
"G" Is for: gift, goat, grass, glue, grapes, gumballs, ghost, garden, goose, guitar, Goldilocks ... what else can you think of that begins with "G"? In pre-K, one of the focuses is early literacy and readiness! Preschoolers have been having lots of fun learning uppercase and lowercase letter identification, letter sounds, writing letters and more at our literacy learning centers.
Also, click on the buttons below to hear two of our favorite letter songs! Preschoolers worked so hard this week learning letter "K", how to write "K", and the sound that it makes! We made "K" using wooden pieces, rainbow wrote "K" on our kite craft, and wrote "K" in sand and shaving cream! Not only have we been focusing on the letter of the week, but also identifying, spelling and writing all the letters in our name! |
