We are working on the letter Aa this week! We read many apple stories including: Apples A to Z by Margaret McNamara, The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall, and Chicka Chicka 123 by Bill Martin Jr. We read our own "My Aa Book," which included an alligator, astronaut, apple, and alphabet! Students used fine motor skills to tear paper, and create an apple. Then, we put our apples on a tree in our classroom. We learned that people pick apples in the fall. We tasted all different types of apples including: Macintosh, Gala, Cortland, and Honey Crisp! First, we used our sense of smell, then we tasted the apples, and used words to describe them. Many preschool friends liked Honey Crisp apples. We painted using apples! While stamping with apples, students found out that they can make different shapes, and mix new colors. We even made applesauce! We worked together to combine apples, cinnamon, and sugar. After the ingredients cooked in a crock pot, we tasted our applesauce. It was so good!!!
