Parent volunteers were invited to visit our classroom and share about their occupation. It was fun to have Mr. Paletsky visit, teach us about farming, and share lots of pictures of his farm in Morris. Mrs. Leonard visited, and taught us about being a Broadway manager. She showed the class lots of pictures on a slideshow, and props from the Broadway shows. Students even received memorabilia from The Lion King and Aladdin! Thank you parent volunteers!
Throughout the month of November, preschoolers learned about occupations and community helpers. Occupations that preschoolers learned about include: mail carrier, construction worker, doctor, veterinarian, dentist, farmer, chef, baker, plumber, mechanic, police officer, fire fighter, engineer, pilot, and more. In the dramatic play house center, students dressed up as various community helpers. In the fine motor and math center learning center, students pretended to be bakers by counting and adding play dough chocolate chips to cookie play dough mats. At the science learning center, students pretended to be doctors, and examined x-rays of human and animal bones, and teeth. Children also pretended to be dentists by flossing and brushing egg carton teeth.
