In December, we read many versions of The Gingerbread Man! Students strengthened fine motor and creative skills by making a gingerbread man at the art learning center. Just like Mat Man, the gingerbread man has two arms, two legs, one body, two eyes, one nose, and one mouth! Knowledge of Mat Man helped students create their gingerbread men. We worked on story retelling the the version by Schmidt. One of the versions we read was The Gingerbread Man: Loose in the School by Laura Murray. Then, we went looking for the gingerbread man because he was loose in James Morris School! Preschoolers looked everywhere: the gym, art room, nurses office, and even Mr. Chapman's office! After reading the last clue, we found him and his gingerbread friends in our classroom ready to be frosted, decorated, and eaten! As the class was decorating their gingerbread men, one student commented, "This is the best day ever!" We had so much fun!
