We read many different versions of "The Gingerbread Man." Students noticed that in each version, the events were different, the endings were different, but the main character was always the same - the gingerbread man. One of the versions that we read was The Gingerbread Man Loose in the School. We retold the story by looking for the gingerbread man throughout the school. The gingerbread man left us notes with clues of where he was, such as the nurses office, the Main Office, the art room, and the gym. When we returned to our classroom, the gingerbread man had left us a tray of gingerbread man cookies, frosting, M&M's, and raisins to decorate and eat! It was so much fun!! Children worked on giving their gingerbread man two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, just like Mat Man.
